Take a 25-mile ride with George Hincapie


The Amgen Tour of California doesn't begin until February 14. But plenty of related events, including an apportunity to ride around San Francisco with 11-time Tour de France finisher George Hincapie, are schduled in the week leading to the event's prologue in Sacramento.

Here are details for the Ride with George Hincapie and Raise Funds for Breakaway from Cancer™

What: Join 11-time Tour de France veteran and 3-time Amgen Tour of California veteran, George Hincapie for the 2009 Breakaway from Cancer™ fundraising ride in San Francisco, CA.

Who: The fundraising charity ride benefiting cancer support organizations is for all cyclists, cycling enthusiasts and cancer charity supporters. The Breakaway from Cancer™ charity ride, sponsored by Amgen, will benefit the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, the Patient Advocate Foundation, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Stand Up To Cancer and The Wellness Community.

When: Sunday, February 8, 2009
Registration for ride begins at 7 a.m. and ride starts at 8 a.m.

Where: San Francisco, CA, Marina Green
The 25-mile course starts off from Marina Green through the Presidio with beautiful views and fun landscape. Then the ride follows the Pacific Coast south around Lake Merced and back up the coast through Golden Gate Park and more of the Presidio before arriving back at Marina Green. Finish line activities will include interactive exhibits from the Exploratorium.
